A Teoria da Lógica Mental e as Teorias Competitivas

2006
The purpose of the present study is to confront the theory of mental logic with others which oppose themselves to its ideas. In the last years it has been recurrent a resistance to the statement that human reasoning contains a mental logic, in fact, many have announced frequently the death of such theory. Even though, researchers from this field of study feel it is premature to announce this death. They believe that mental logic theories are still alive, and that the problem lies on the fact that it has been misunderstood. Those who propose these theories say that most of the criticisms are due to an inadequate interpretation to this methodological approach. He believes that mental logic theories are not exactly alike, and that what can be considered evidence against a particular theory can’t be necessarily used against all mental logic theories. The present study brings a wide view over each one of the competing theories, detailing with depth the main beliefs of the mental logic theory.
