Isotope shifts and hyperfine structure in polonium isotopes by atomic-beam laser spectroscopy.

Atomic electrons can be used to probe nuclei by studying details of atomic spectra: the isotope shift of spectral lines contains information on the change of the mean square charge radius from one isotope to another one, while the hyperfine splitting allows to determine spins and the lower electromagnetic moments of nuclei.
