Study on chemical constituents of the seed of Melia azedarach L.

Objective To study the chemical constituents of the seed of Melia azedarach L.Methods The compounds from the seed of Melia azedarach L.were isolated and purified by column chromatography,and their structures were identified by physico-chemical properties and spectral data.Results Six compounds were isolated and identified as β-sitosterol(Ⅰ),vanillin(Ⅱ),benzoic acid(Ⅲ),vanillic acid(Ⅳ),daucosterol(Ⅴ),α-D-glucopyranose(Ⅵ).Conclusion The compounds of Ⅲ and Ⅵ are isolated from this plant for the first time.
