Isolation of a herpesvirus from wild turkeys in Florida

SUMMARY A cell-associated herpesvirus antigenically related and morphologically similar to herpesviruses isolated from domestic turkeys and chickens was isolated in individual kidney cell cultures prepared from four wild turkeys captured in four geographically separated areas in Florida. Serological studies using the indirect hemagglutination test indicated that the virus was widespread in wild turkeys in four widely separated trapping areas in Florida.
