МІКРОБІОЛОГІЯ В ОДЕСЬКОМУ НАЦІОНАЛЬНОМУ УНІВЕРСИТЕТІ ІМЕНІ І. І. МЕЧНИКОВА (1865–2013)

The purpose of the article is presentation of rich history of microbiological researches and 80-years-old history of Chair of Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology of the Odesa National I. I. Mechnykov University. According the rich actual material the becoming of microbiology in an university since works of famous scientists – professor L. S. Cenkovskiy, Nobel Laureate I. I. Mechnikov et al. - has been shown. The participating of professors and researchers of chair in the preparation of microbiologists, virologists, biotechnologists and the organization of scientific investigations has been reflected. The past helps us to understand the present and build the future. Therefore, the history of the department is not only educational in nature. Achievements and mistakes old days should be objectively analyzed and evaluated. The information will be of interest not only contemporaries, but also will be useful to future generations.
