Septic shock is a form of circulatory failure characterised by hypotension and evidence of end-organ hypoperfusion. There is a large variation in both the severity of symptoms and in the rate of its progression. Treatment usually involves the concomitant administration of multiple drug infusions to maintain multiple monitored physiological variables within desired target ranges. We have developed a computer model to simulate this process with the principal aim of utilising it in the development of an automated drug infusion system.
