TEAT DIPPING EFFECTIVENESS USING RED BETEL (Piper Crocatum) LEAF BOILING AND IODINE ON GROWTH OF BACTERIA

The purpose of this study was to know the effectiveness of red betel (Piper Crocatum) leaf boiling as teat dipping solution on dairy cow milk for growth of bacteria. Ten sample of milk from dairy cow which were never done teat dipping before. The first group was given by teat dipping treatment from red betel leaf boiling 25%. The second group was given by iodine 12%. Experiment carried out for 3 weeks. Sample obtained later in the Total Plate Count (TPC) test, then the results were read according to the Standard Plate Count (SPC). The data were compared using randomized complete block design (RCBD). The results of the study showed no significant difference (P>0,05) between before and after treatment with teat dipping, and no significant difference between treatment using red betel leaf boiling and iodine
