Effect of Group Intervention on Cognition in Integrity-provement in Adolescents

Background: At  present,  lots  of  integrity-problems  occur  among  adolescents.  Many  group interventions appeared to improve adolescent integrity. This study focus on the applications of psychological theories and Buddhist principles into group intervention to improve integrity among adolescence. Objective: The  objective  is  to  study  the  efficacy  of  group  intervention,  which  is  based  on psychological theories and Buddhism, to the cognition integrity improvement in adolescents. Method: Experimental  study  on  the  efficacy  of  group intervention,  based  on  psychological theories and Buddhism, to the cognition integrity improvement in participated adolescents. Study in the Mathayom 1 students of one school, academic year of 2005. Subjects who score under  25th percentile were grouped into the study and control group, 22 each. Study group consisted of subjects who willing to participate in the group intervention. Control group consisted of those who did not participate in the group intervention. The instruments used for collecting data were the cognition integrity questionnaire and the group intervention program, based on psychological theories and Buddhism. SPSS version 12 was used to analyze the data. Results: There was no significant difference in integrity cognition between 2 groups prior to the group intervention (p=0.08). After the group intervention, the cognition integrity of the study group was significantly higher than the control group (p=0.003). Conclusion: Cognition  integrity  of  the  study  group  was  significantly  improved  after  the  group intervention,  and  was  also  higher  than  the  control  group.  The  group  intervention,  based  on psychological  theories  and  Buddhism,  improve  the  cognition  integrity  of  the  participated adolescents. This intervention may be apply to the other activities for promoting cognition integrity in adolescents.
