A DESIGN METHOD FOR TONPILZ PIEZOELECTRIC UNDERWATER TRANSDUCER

To synthesize a Tonpilz piezoelectric underwater transducer, two simple and expedient equivalent circuit models of the transducer are presented. The shapes and dimensions for each quarter wavelength model, which can operate in a required resonant frequency, were calculated. Moreover, using a half wavelength approximation model combined with the quarter wavelength models, transmitting voltage sensitivity and receiving voltage sensitivity were calculated. Also, comparisons between the calculation result obtained by this model, the calculation result determined by precise equivalent circuit analysis and the actually measured result are discussed.
