EFFECTS OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE TIANNIANYIN ON GLUTAMIC ACID CONTENT IN BRAIN OF AGED RATS
2007
Objective:To observe the effects of traditional Chinese Medicine tiannianyin on glutamic acid (Glu) content in brain of aged rats.Methods:40 SD rats were divided into 4 groups at random:normal group, aging model group, tiannianyin group and negative control group, and each group had 10 rats. The sub-acutely aging model rats were made by injecting D-gal into abdominal cavity continually.High performance capillary electropheresis (HPCE) was used to detect the contents of Glu in cerebral cortex, hippocampus of rats in each group. Results:The Glu content in cerebral cortex, hippocampus of rats in aging model group increased signifi- cantly (compared with normal rats P0.01);Traditional Chinese medicine tiannianyin could decrease the Glu content in different brain region of aged rats obviously (tinianyin group compared with aging model group:P0.01).Conclusions:Traditional Chinese medicine tiannianyin could improve the metabolism of Glu in brain of aged rats, and has the effects of delaying brain ageing.
