The invention discloses a low-smoke halogen-free flame retardant cable material and a preparation method thereof. The cable material mainly comprises the following components in parts by weight: 10-12 parts of polyethylene, 10-30 parts of EVA, 20-50 parts of aluminium hydroxide, 1-5 parts of red phosphorus, 2-6 parts of compatilizer, 0.1-1 part of cross-linking agent, 0.5-5 parts of silicone oil and 0.5-5 parts of processing assistant. The low-smoke halogen-free flame retardant cable material is prepared by carrying out dynamic vulcanization reaction in an internal mixer, and then mixing, extruding and pelleting in a double-screw machine.
