Beta-Blocker Therapy Improves Left Ventricular Stiffening Assessed with Echocardiography in Patients with Heart Failure

2013
LV early and mid-to-late diastolic function is somewhat independent from each other. While LV early diastolic function is assessable with early mitral annular YHORFLW\ (¶ WKHUH KDV EHHQ QR DSSURSULDWH index assessing LV mid-to-late diastolic function. Recently, it was postulated that the epicardial movement reflects LV stiffness, and echo quantitation of this provides a novel estimate of LV stiffness [1]. This was assessed following the induction of beta-blocker therapy in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) .
