Spatial-polarization performance of hexapolarized MIMO system

Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems with six distinguishable electric and magnetic states of polarization is suggested to achieve full rank of six, which result in a total of six polarization degrees of freedom. As non-ignorable correlation still exist between such hexapolarized MIMO sub-channels, joint utilization of space and polarization diversity may decrease the correlation coefficients. A hybrid hexapolarized MIMO system model is established to study how hybrid diversity reduces sub-channel correlations. In such model, sub-channel correlations of hybrid diversity MIMO system are simulated from a discrete distribution of scatters. Simulation is made to check whether decreasing of such correlations is helpful to system performance, and it results in a limited increasing of channel capacity.
