Strom aus dem SWR 1000 konkurrenzfähig

1999
The article compares the economic performance of the SWR 1000 with that of conventional BWR plants. The SWR 1000 is seen to be superior especially in personnel costs and plant costs. Operating costs and fuel cycle costs are approximately identical. The SWR 1000 achieves its better economic characteristics not only as a result of its plant size, but also by systems simplifications and through the use of passive components. A detailed comparison, item by item, is presented in a table. The authors forecast that the SWR 1000 is going to underrun even the electricity generating costs of the optimized EPR and of combined-cycle power plants. This means that the main precondition for a building decision exists irrespective of political conditions and factors pertaining to the national economy.
