The prescribing of medicines is a complex and often difficult task, requiring the integration of specific knowledge and skills within the context of a unique patient. Demonstration of competence to prescribe represents a challenge for all professions and for the higher education sector. The most appropriate process to effectively assess prescribing competence remains difficult to define.
