Bilan des infections nosocomiales dans un service de long-séjour d'un centre hospitalier général

Summary A surveillance of nosocomial infections was realised in a long-term ward of a general hospital during 62 days between 15th June 1990 and 15th August 1990. Patients were included according to the definition of the Methodology Guide of AP of Paris and the Center for Disease Control of Atlanta. 45 patients had one or several infections. 61 infections were reported : mainly we found 30 urinary tract infections (45 %), 10 eye infections (15 %), 6 respiratory tract infections (9 %) and 6 genital tract infections (9 %). 65 microorganisms were isolated : among them 16 strains of Staphylococcus aureus , 12 Proteus mirabilis , 9 Escherichia coli and 7 Pseudomonas aeruginosa . The overall nosocomial infection rate was 0.33 infection per 100 days of hospitalization/patient and the individual infection rate for urinary tract infection was 0.15.
