THE STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF COMPLEX AND HETEROPHASE MATERIALS
1966
Complex heterophase materials (sometimes called composites) fall within the province of materials technology rather than materials science. Materials as diverse as fibre-glass resin systems, rubber reinforced with carbon black, expanded thermoplastics, asphalt aggregates and concrete are included in this class. Some typical examples will be described.
