A method for measuring propagation time of light

2007
Method for measuring propagation time of light, especially for cameras (10), with the steps: - emission of a first light signal at least one light emitter (12), synchronized by a first control clock (16 ), a light path (14) via a reflecting object (O) to a photodiode (13), - determination of a reception signal due to the first light signal in the receiver (13), - coupling another light signal synchronized by another clock control (17) and mixed with the first light signal forming a reception signal (S13) common, - filtering the received signal (S13) common with a filter (25), whose frequency response corresponds to a frequency of a difference clock, forming a filtered signal, - use of the reception signal light path (14) for determining the time of propagation of light, with the steps: - mixture of clock signals of the first control clock (1 6) and clock control (17) further, also forming a mixed in a mixer (30) signal, and - use of the phase shift between the mixed controls clock (16, 17) signal and the filtered signal to determining the propagation time of the characterized light that - the light signal further is radiated to the photodiode (13) at an angle with respect to the first light signal, mixing the first light signal with the additional signal light is performed in the photodiode .
