VISUALIZATION OF RELATIVE DELAYS IN TRANSIENT SPATIAL PATTERNS GENERATED BY DISCONTINUOUS RADIATING SURFACES

1991
The application of a 2D-ultrasonic field visualization technique to analyze possible delays in the transient vibration of distinct parts of discontinuous radiating surfaces is presented. The procedure is based on the detection of snapshots corresponding to the fore parts of the emitted transient wavefront. In this way, it is possible to know the incidence in the spatial domain of non simultaneous vibrations in the emitter as well as to detect if mechanical anomalies were introduced during manufacturing.
