EFFECTS OF PREPARATION PARAMETERS ON SPECIFIC SURFACE AREA OF ACTIVATED CARBONS

Activated carbons were prepared from coal pitch by chemical activati on technology with KOH as activating agent. The effects of carbonization temperatu re(A), carbonization time(B), activation temperature(C) and activation time(D) o n specific surface area of activated carbon obtained were studied by orthogonal design. It has been found that the sequence in terms of influence degree is as f ollows: BDAC. The activation mechanism with KOH as activating agent is also d iscussed.
