Bursitis Prekarpalisli Siğirlarda Kortikosteroid Tedavisinin Bazi Antioksidan Enzim ve Lipid Peroksidasyon Seviyeleri Üzerine Etkileri

2003
SUMMARY This study was conducted to access the effect of corticosteroid treatment on the activity of antioxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase-GSH-Px, catalase-CAT), the levels of lipid peroxidation (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) in cattles with acut serous burcitis precarpalis. Nine healthy and nine with burcitis precarpalis totally 18 Holstain breed cattle from Ceylanpinar district, Sanliurfa was choosen for the study. The sinovial liquid, formed after vezikan pomad application for two days, was discharged antiseptically and the intrabursal corticosteroid and antibiotic regimen was applied. Blood samples were drawn from the cow once before and twice (two and 21 days) after the treatment. Burcitis caused significant decreased in erythrocyte CAT and GSH levels while significant increased in the level of MDA. After treatment corticosteroids caused a significant increases in the level of GSH-Px. The MDA level decreased while the GSH was increased after the treatment. As a result, we believe that corticosteroid theraphy in bursitic cattles, induces antioxidant systems and changes the peroxidation reactions.
