Abstract With the aim of developing a novel molecular system for photoelectrical conversion, several new N -substituted pyrrole derivatives, 1-[4-(diphenylamino)phenyl-2-oxaalkyl]pyrrole (DPA-C x -Py) and 1-[4-[bis(4-methylphenyl)amino]phenyl-2-oxaalkyl]pyrrole (BMA-C x -Py) ( x = 5 and 8), have been synthesized and their anodic polymerizations investigated. Rectification and photovoltaic properties of polypyrrole films containing a triphenylamine moiety as a pendant group, obtained by anodic copolymerization of BMA-C x -Py with pyrrole, have been studied.
