The pituitary gland diseases often show ophthalmic disturbances due to the anatomical relationship with visual system and oculomotor nerves. This protocol reviews the most frequent pathological entities (tumors, apoplexy, empty sella and hipophysitis) and highlights the ophthalmologist’s role in the diagnosis and follow up to assess their involvement on visual function.
