Reduction Mastoplasty with Prismatic Resection on a Trapezoid Base for Median Hypertrophic Breasts and Breasts with a Large Base

2018
Many techniques are used for breast reduction; nevertheless, they all have in common the fact that patients are operated on with their superior limbs abducted. The reduction mastoplasty with prismatic resection on a trapezoid base involves the following principles: a patient with her superior limbs adducted associated with a new procedure of mammary tissue resection in two stages: (1) a central trapezoid base prism (“golden bar”); (2) the excess of the base on a perpendicular plane of the breast. The resulting scars were a vertical scar (90.0%) and a small inverted T (10%). The resection was an average of 650 ± 20 g on each side. Esthetic evaluation was excellent and complications were minor. This technique has some relevant features: (a) it can be applied to small, medium, and larger breasts; (b) small scars; (c) great reduction of the breast’s diameter. This technique is an option for the treatment of breast hypertrophy.
