Surgical Reconstructions for Obstruction

2011
Microsurgical reconstruction of the male genital tract is the mainstay for the treatment of ductal obstruction. Up to 6% of patients presenting with primary infertility will have ductal obstruction, which may be curable with surgical reconstruction (Potts and Pasqualotta 1999). Furthermore, vasectomy is the most common urologic procedure performed and studies have shown that 6% of men will request a reversal due to changing life circumstances. Vasal injuries secondary to trauma or iatrogenic causes may also be corrected with microsurgical reconstruction.
