CONTRIBUCIONES AL ESTUDIO DEL COMPORTAMIENTO

2007
Nikolaas Tinbergen was one of the most important naturalists of the Twentieth Century. He was one of the founders of Ethology, and a pioneer researcher on the study of animal behavior. A review of his academic life and contributions is presented. Tinbergen proposed a taxonomy of ontogenetic and phylogenetic levels of explanation, provided empirical evidence for multiple ethological concepts, and developed the idea of using comparative methods in behavior to study evolution.
