A BER floor simulation for the indoor multipath environment

1997
In a high bit rate indoor wireless communication system, i.e. wireless LAN, the inter-symbol interference (ISI) due to the multipath delayed waves much degrades the communication quality. This paper presents a BER floor simulation for the indoor multipath environment. The room is modeled as a rectangular box composed of dielectric walls, and multiple reflections are modeled as images of the source on the walls (Manabe et al., 1996). Wave polarization is carefully treated for higher accuracy of estimation. After multipath channel estimation, the equivalent transmission-path model (Karasawa et al., 1997) is introduced to simplify the BER floor estimation. Some results for different polarisation and different base station positions are compared, to find out the optimum design of the antenna properties.
