Practical Problems with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis in Children

In 1977 we began treatment of chronic uremia in an HB-positive boy with intermittent peritoneal dialysis (IPD) over 21 months. Table 1 shows this patient, and also eight children — six boys and two girls, 3 1/2 – 17 1/2 years old — whom we have treated with chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) for 49 patient months altogether.
