Electromagnetic processes in strong crystalline fields
2006
We propose a number of new investigations on aspects of radiation from high energy electron and positron beams (10-300 GeV) in single crystals and amorphous targets. The common heading is radiation emission by electrons and positrons in strong electromagnetic fields, but as the setup is quite versatile, other related phenomena in radiation emission can be studied as well. The intent is to clarify the role of a number of important aspects of radiation in strong fields as e.g. observed in crystals. We propose to measure trident ‘Klein-like’ production in strong crystalline fields, ‘crystalline undulator’ radiation, ‘sandwich’ target phenomena, LPM suppression of pair production as well as axial and planar effects in contributions of spin to the radiation.
