PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN NITROGEN DAN SULFUR PADA ENSILASE JERAMI UBI JALAR (Ipomea batatas L.) TERHADAP GAS TOTAL DAN pH CAIRAN RUMEN DOMBA (IN VITRO) THE EFFECT OF ADDITION NITROGEN AND SULPHUR IN ROUGHAGE SWEET POTATO ENSILAGE (Ipomoea batatas L.) AGAINST TOTAL GAS AND pH SHEEP RUMEN FLUID (IN VITRO)

The research about the effect of the addition of nitrogen and sulfur in the roughage sweet potato ensilage (Ipomea batatas L.) toward total gas and pH of sheep rumen fluid (in vitro) was conducted from February 2015 until April 2015 at Ruminant Nutrition and Feed Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry Universitas Padjadjaran. This research was aimed to determine the percentage of addition nitrogen and sulfur in ensilage to produce the highest total gas and the effect toward pH of sheep rumen fluid. The experimental method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatment and five replication, that was P0 = ensilage with 0% nitrogen and 0% sulfur, P1 = ensilage with 1% nitrogen and 0.075% sulfur, P2 = ensilage with 2% nitrogen and 0.15% sulfur, P3 = ensilage with 3% nitrogen and 0.225% sulfur. The addition of nitrogen and sulfur in ensilage had significant effect (P<0.05) toward total gas and pH rumen fluid. The result of the research showed that the addition 0% nitrogen and 0% sulfur produced the highest of total gas, even though the highest of pH is produce from addition 3% nitrogen and 0,225% sulfur.
