Effect of sintering temperature on the structural and electrical properties of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles

2014
Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles have been synthesized by sol-gel technique. The prepared sample was sintered at four different temperatures (300°C, 500°C, 400°C and 700°C) for four hours. The structural characterization of the samples was done by using XRD, TEM and FTIR. The dielectric properties of all the samples were measured at room temperature in the frequency range 20Hz-30MHz. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss are showing a decrease with increase in frequency and sintering temperature. The DC electrical conductivity measured as a function of temperature shows the semiconducting nature of ferrites. The high resistivity and the low dielectric behaviour make this ferrite particularly suitable for high frequency applications.
