Fragment-Specific Internal Fixation of Distal Radius Fractures

2016
Numerous methods of fixation have been developed to treat distal radius fractures and minimize radiocarpal and radioulnar incongruity. Fragment-specific fracture fixation was developed to address complex distal radius fractures that were previously challenging to treat with single-plate fixation. Fragment-specific fixation aims to address all fracture fragments independently with small plates, pins, or wire-forms to anatomically reduce the fracture with adequate biomechanical stability.
