Effect of different body positions on axillary temperature in bedridden elderly patients

Objective: To study the impacts of different body positions on axillary temperature in bedridden elderly patients to guide the clinical nursing care. Method: The temperature values of 96 hospitalizations in the semi-recumbent and lateral positions chosen from Aug-Sept. 2012 were compared. Result: The mean value of axillary temperature in the lateral position is higher than that in the semi recumbent position. There is a statistical significant difference. Conclusion: The lateral position’s axillary temperature is closer to the core one in elderly bedridden patients.
