Streptococcus anginosus et pyléphlébite aiguë suppurée

Summary Authors present the case of a 58 years old man with acute pylephlebitis and liver abscess. Several blood cultures yielded Streptococcus anginosus . Complicated appendiceal inflammatory disease had been eliminated. There was no evident initial focus leading to infection of portal system and liver. Early and prolonged antibiotic therapy led to recovery. This case put emphasis on unidentified initial focus.
