Electrochemical and spectral study of solid AgI and LiI electrolytes doped with polymers and copolymers of 2-vinylpyridine with N- and S-containing monomers☆

1991
An electrochemical and spectral study has been made of solid AgI and LiI electrolytes doped with poly-2-vinylpyridine and with copolymers of 2-vinylpyridine with N- and S-containing monomers. The specific electrical conductivity of the pressed solid AgI electrolytes with additions of polymer and copolymers with 2-pyridyl ethylmethacrylate, paratolylthioethylene and diethylamino-ethylmethacrylate has been measured. The specific electrical charge of the cathodic material based on these polymers and copolymers and the coefficient of use of iodine in the galvanic element have been determined. From analysis of the electron spectra of the diffusion reflection of model AgI-polymer (copolymer) systems an explanation is offered for the character of the kinetic discharge curves of the iodolithium galvanic elements with the cathodic mass based on the polymers and copolymers studied. The mechanism of the discharge process in an element is proposed and the reasons impeding the formation of a pure electrolyte have been established.
