Transport infrastructure investment appraisal

2011
The quality of transport infrastructure influences the role transport plays and its contribution to the functioning of a successful economy. The government plays an important role in the transport network through its investment in maintenance and construction of road and rail. Like most countries, New Zealand faces the fundamental economic problem of scarce resources. It is therefore essential that investments are made in projects that offer the best value for money. This presentation will discuss the latest development in transport project evaluation and the issues we face in infrastructure investment decisions.
