Operational wetlands monitoring for the ramsar convention: TESEO powers a breakthrough

In 2001, the European Space Agency (ESA) launched the Treaty Enforcement Services using Earth Observation (TESEO) initiative. The objective was to explore through a series of parallel studies, the capabilities of Earth Observation (EO) technology to support the implementation of key international environmental treaties. One of these development contracts targeted wetlands applications in support of the Ramsar International Convention on Wetlands.
