PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite positive electrode material for a lithium ion battery particularly excelling in high-rate discharge performance of the battery; and slurry, a positive electrode and a battery using it. SOLUTION: This composite positive electrode material for a lithium ion battery contains (a) a positive electrode active material, (b) a conductive substance having a primary particle diameter of 10-100 nm and/or (c) a fibrous conductive substance having a fiber diameter of 1 nm to 1 μm, and (d) a conductive substance having an aspect ratio of 2-50. The composite positive electrode material for a lithium ion battery is obtained by mixing the conductive substance of (d) with a composition containing the positive electrode active material of (a), the conductive substance of (b) and/or the conductive substance of (c), which composition is obtained by dispersing the positive electrode active material of (a), the conductive substance of (b) and/or the conductive substance of (c) in a solvent to a state where they are forcibly dispersed, and thereafter coagulating them.
