A pilot measurement of head-related transfer function blur in spatial localization

2007
The new concept of "head-related transfer function (HRTF) Blur" is proposed in this paper to describe the uncertainty of human perception in locating a virtual sound source. From the experiment with subject's participation, it is concluded that significant HRTF Blur does exist. This paper provides a method to measure the HRTF Blur. The consistency of HRTF Blur between two measurement options (measured inwards and outwards) and among days is examined.
