Il Counseling nella relazione di aiuto: verifica di un training sperimentale per lo sviluppo dell'autoefficacia e delle life skills con studenti universitari

2011
Nowadays, counselling is a widely used approach in the helping professions. From this point of view, the counselling relationship offers the possibility of support and guidance for those who want to experience a journey to discover their potential, both on an individual level or as a group. In the different areas of application, the university context represents a crucial place of formation where counselling results in an interesting strategy for guidance and personal development of the students involved. The research subject of the doctoral thesis is linked to the analysis of the experimental training of "counselling in action". The utilisation of tools and the counselling abilities through working on the principal life-skills has a primary objective of improving some dimensions of self-efficacy in first year university students. The experimental research involved a sample of 89 students from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy from the University of Sassari, subdivided into an experimental group making use of training and a control group. The results indicate a statistically significant increase in the experimental group for the majority of the variables measured. This implies that the training is an effective tool in the development of self-efficacy. In scientific literature this is considered a fundamental dimension in success at university and in preventing drop-outs. The research offers an innovative perspective on the use of counselling methodologies in the formation and guidance at university, and provides further opportunities for research in this field.
