Stability characteristics of metal fueled fast reactor cores

Abstract Linear stability analysis using transfer function method is carried out for both metal and MOX (Mixed Oxide) fueled Fast Breeder Reactors (FBR). The better heat transfer properties of metal fueled reactor gives a prompt feedback and hence a lower feedback time constant. The stability of each system is demonstrated by plotting the Nyquist diagram. The stability margin is estimated in terms of phase margin calculated from the Nyquist diagram.
