Geological conditions for coal in China are complex. The development mode of coal mines mainly in the form of shaft excavation has high safety risks and it requires higher precision geophysical technologies and geological results. The high precision 3D seismic survey supporting technology for coal mines with the meaning of “Two Wide and One High” 3D acquisition, high fidelity & fine resolution processing and multi-information combined with elaborate interpretation is formed through development and improvement based on the high density 3D seismic survey technology that was developed from the process of oil & gas exploration and development according to geological demands and seismic-geological conditions for coal exploration & production; In the application process of recent years, the interpretation accuracy for 3D seismic data bodies of high-grade coal mines and special geological bodies such as small faults, collapsed pillars and stoped out areas etc. is improved significantly, seismic prediction for thin seams, fractured zones, gas (water) rich zones etc. is also effective, providing important result basis for scientific and safe development of coal mines.
