Automatic Information Processing and High Performance Skills: Application to Training

1990
Abstract : This report documents a laboratory research effort to investigate the application of automatic processing theory to analogs of complex command and control (C2) operator tasks. Six experiments were performed to investigate complex skill acquisition and transfer of training. The results indicate that elements of automatic processing theory can be applied to training complex task analogs, and suggest that transfer of this training is relatively unaffected by certain changes in the presentation format of investigation.
