Angewandte Nanofiltration in einem Wasserwerk in Frankreich : Angewandte Membrantechnologie in Wasserwerken

2000
In November 1999, the Paris suburbs water board put a nanofiltration plant into service in Mery-sur-Oise with a treatment capacity of 140,000 m 3 /day, supplying drinking water to 800,000 residents. It is the first NF plant world-wide to treat surface water, which is characterised by the extreme variability of its physical properties, especially temperature (ranging from 1° to 25°C), and suspended solids and organic matter. As a consequence intensive prelimitiary studies were carried out in close cooperation with a membrane manufacturer. A nanofiltration demonstration plant has supplied drinking water to a small town of 6000 inhabitants for more than six years. The experience gained over this long period produced results that could be used directly for the fullsize plant. The article describes the different treatment steps of the new plant, the tests developed for the commissioning of more than 9000 membrane modules and the experience of the first year of operation.
