Perspective of using the Big Solar Furnace in the surface treatment of materials under high solar flux densities

Surface solar treatments of materials using solar furnaces have been investigated by various teams, showing promising result. Concentrated solar energy can compete with conventional radiant sources, like lasers. The main significant advantage of solar installation compared to lasers is that it provides treatment to a greater area of the materials' surface due to larger and easily adjustable focal spot. In this work, energy characteristics and peculiarities of the Big Solar Furnace (BSF) are represented. The possibility of BSF use, for industrial surface treatments of different materials, is shown.
