Nature of anisotropy and thermoelectric effect in obliquely deposited films

1987
The emergency of emf in obliquely deposited, polycrystalline bismuth and tellurium films is well known during the thermal irradiation of their surface. An opinion was expressed earlier that the emf in obliquely deposited films has an anomalous photovoltaic nature. In our opinion the emf appears due to the anisotropy (transverse) of the microelectric effect, which has been investigated in single-crystal, anisotropic materials. The goal of this work has been to investigate the structural features and to reveal the factors which determine the anisotropy and anisotropic thermo-emf in obliquely deposited films.
