Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance Effect of Gold Nanoparticles - TiO2 as Mesoporous Layer for Perovskite Solar Cells

Adding metallic nanoparticles in TiO 2 mesoporous layers to increase light absorption has been widely studied in recent years. The results indicate that the light absorption and photovoltaic parameters of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) can be effectively improved. In this study, we investigate the optimal film structure by using different weight percents and different particle sizes of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs). Compared to PSCs with 10 wt.% of AuNPs. The mesoporous layer with 5 wt.% of AuNPs embedding has the highest photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE), but becomes more unstable. After embedding AuNPs into the mesoporous layer, the short-circuit current density (J SC ) is significantly improved, because the localized surface plasmon resonance(LSPR) effect of AuNPs enhance the light absorbance, and then the photocurrent of PSCs is improved. Especially, AuNPs with optimal particle size of 33 nm are embedded in 5 wt.% mesoporous layer, which can achieve the highest PCE of 9.32 %, open-circuit voltage(V OC ) of 0.96 V and J SC of 16.32 mA cm2.
