The objective of this study was to analyze the painful profile of the spine in university students. This is an analytical field research, cross-sectional with a quantitative approach from 46 students from universities in a municipality in Maranhao. A socio-demographic and physical assessment questionnaire (QSDAF) was applied to analyze the occurrence of painful symptoms in the spine region, whether or not due to physical activity. Pain intensity was measured using the visual analogue pain scale (VAS). The sample included participants of both sexes, 56% of the participants reported feeling pain only at rest and did not report pain when exercising, 67% reported feeling pain in 3 regions 62.28% of the research participants did not perform any activity physical, the area with the most predominance of pain was the low back and the pain intensity varied from moderate to severe. That most students feel pain at rest without association with exercise in the three regions of the spine, few students undertook any physical activity.
