Effect of concentrated sorgaab alone and in combination with herbicides and a surfactant in wheat

2003
Field experiment was conduced to evaluate the effect of sorgaab alone and in combination with herbicides. The treatments included sorgaab (concentrated 25 and 50 times) at the rate of 12 and 6 L ha-1 alone and in combination with reduced doses of MCPA at the rate of 150 at the rate of 150 g a.i. ha-1 and Phenoxaprop-p-ethyl at the rate of 375 g a.i. ha-1 as a surfactant while Methabenzthiazuron at the rate of 1.4 kg a.i. ha-1 at 30 DAS as a weedy check was kept as control. The results revealed that two foliar sprays (30 & 40 DAS) of concentrated sorgaab C25 alone at the rate of 12 L ha-1 suppressed the weedy dry weight by 70 % and the increase in wheat yield over control was 19% while sorgaab C25 alone at the rate of 6 or 12 L ha-1 combined with Phenoxaprop-p-ethyl at the rate of 375 g a.i. ha-1 reduced weed dry weight by 87 %. The economic analysis showed that two foliar sprays of sorgaab (concentrated 25) at the rate of 12 L ha-1 at 30-40 DAS was economical.
