A Two-Stage Approach in the Search for μ−e Conversion with COMET

Abstract The COMET experiment will search for the charged lepton flavour violating process μ − + N ( Z , A ) → e − + N ( Z , A ) with an ultimate single event sensitivity of 3 × 10 − 17 . Design, R&D and construction are all well underway and described here is an update on the current status of the experiment.
